Join us and show Richmond that every drop counts!
RVAH2O is driven by the belief that each and every citizen of our city can make a difference and help us achieve the goal of cleaner water faster for all of Richmond. We’ve developed an innovative partnership between city government and passionate citizens, and we’re making progress every day to:
- Reduce pollution
- Decrease flooding
- Keep our waters fishable and swimmable
The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities is developing a voluntary, collaborative, long-term plan to bring cleaner water to all of RVA. This plan includes a four-year process to seek an innovative permit granted by the EPA’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program. Richmond would be one of the first cities in the U.S. to receive such a permit, which will allow for the efficient combination of addressing efforts regarding drinking water, waste water and stormwater to deliver cleaner water faster. For more information on this unique opportunity, please visit our “Planning for the Future” page.
We’re not working alone in this effort. Citizens and organizations all around RVA are already doing their part to improve water quality. From engaging in community clean ups, to building rain gardens and other innovative green infrastructure projects, to the storm drain inlet cleanings that keep our city flood-free, there’s great progress happening all around town. The success of RVAH2O is fueled by all of us working together.
